The Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. FERPA applies to all educational agencies and institutions that receive funding under any program administered by the Department of Education. As a recipient of federal funding, Cleveland Community College is obligated to comply with FERPA. The College limits the release of personally identifiable information, other than directory information, without explicit student consent.
For more information on FERPA, how it relates to your position, and to learn more about your rights and what information you can share without student consent, please see the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act page (see link below). Training opportunities will be available for all employees during the fall semester. Please check back for more information.
