MUS 110: Music Appreciation

Steps to successfully complete this assignment.

1. Read/Watch the synopsis of the opera of your choice.
2. Understand the narrative elements of the story: characters, setting, problem, solution.
3. Pick one of the prompts to write about.
4. Write your paper using observations from the text combined with you reasoning, thoughts, and ideas. It should begin with an introduction, contain multiple paragraphs answering the questions from the prompt, and end with a closing paragraph. If citing something from a video, please include a time stamp.

Observations may include:

• In-depth character analysis (protagonist, antagonist, comedic foil)
• Critical look at costumes and design and how they relate to character's actions.
• Morals, values, or lessons taught through the story.
• Analyze how the setting affects other story elements.
