The Final Assignment is to shoot and edit a thirty second (:30) Public Service Announcement. You may choose something you are passionate about, such as giving blood, The Salvation Army, etc. The first thing you need to do is to select a topic. Many times a topic is too big and must be narrowed down to fit the thirty second (:30) time limit. |
Storyboard defines that a Public Service Announcement (PSA) as a message spread in the interest of the public. The objectives of PSAs are to raise awareness and change public attitudes, opinions, or even behavior toward an issue. These messages can be instructional, inspirational, or even shocking to elicit emotion and action.
PSAs are aired at no charge by radio stations and often remain on the air for multiple weeks. This exposure can significantly increase the potential reach or a message originating from a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, non-profit organization with a limited budget. The secret to an effective PSA campaign, however, lies in the writing and production of the piece so that it is impactful, will attract attention and motivate action. (Media Track Communications)
