You will learn about the push to transition from paper-based to Electronic Health Records and the Meaningful Use program from the textbook. Beginning in 2019, Providers participating in MIPS who collect data during a calendar year and submit it to CMS by March of the following year will be eligible for a payment increase if goals were met. Providers who do not meet their goals will have a payment reduction.
It is very important that you understand the payment mechanisms currently in place for Medicare patients. In this project, you will research how Meaningful Use evolved into the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). Your research should include all relevant components of the program including but not limited to:
Your completed project should consist of written research paper that will be graded according to the rubric provided. You do not need to formally cite your sources in the paper, but please include links to your data sources.
